On the Run: Hair Care Edition

On the Run hair care

Bumble and Bumble styling product
$37 –

As promised, here are my go-to products when I’m On-the- Run.
Beyonce and Jay-Z aren’t the only ones On The Run you know…
Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo:
Whether I’m running late, or because I washed my hair the night before, dry shampoo is my savior. My hair is naturally oily so that means I have to wash my hair everyday. Unfortunately, my hair is also highlighted, therefore I have two different textures going on at the same time. My roots are oily, but the rest is normal/dry. It’s was a real dilemma, but then I gave dry shampoo a shot. It solved all my problems. It’s also great for refreshing, giving extra grip/hold to a hair do, and giving your hair a temporary fuller effect. Dry shampoo is proof you can have your cake, and eat it too.
Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray:
Right after I apply the dry shampoo, and brush it out, I lightly spray this all over the middle and lower half of my hair to give it a more natural look. Or, I use it it when I’ve styled my hair in waves/curls to give it that beach-y bed-head look. It also provides you a slight hold. Did I mention it also smells great?

Coconut oil:
We’ve all heard that coconut oil is amazing for about 15million things. Your skin, your hair, your health, it’s pretty much the gift that keeps on giving.  I use it for a myriad of things, but for my on the run hair care, I use it just on the ends. I grab about a pea sized about, and work it into my ends. It helps keep them moisturized, and adds shine. It’s the perfect leave-in-treatment.

Until next time…Love,

My little half-pony

One morning, I was rushing to get to work. As I looked in the mirror I thought to myself, “What am I going to do with my hair?”, I had fallen asleep with a braid, and it wasn’t exactly the #Iwokeuplikethis perfect hair that the beauty gurus on Refinery 29 said it would be. In all fairness, I probably didn’t do it right… Anyway, I was stuck with weird choppy waves. Naturally, picked up my hair in a ponytail, but it wasn’t quite right. Then in the midst of my frustration, I remembered that one time I was on pinterest for hours, and I came across this quick and cute way to use bobby pins.  I opted for simple, yet stylish triangle. I picked up my hair into a half-ponytail and began putting the bobby pins in their triangular place. The end result, was just what I was looking for. I received many compliments that day on my 2 minute hair do, and it’s now a favorite amongst my lazy girl hair repertoire.

I’ll be posting up my favorite on-the-go hair products very soon.

Until next time…

You’re still my No.1

must haves

Nars cosmetic

Tarte cosmetic

For the past two years I’ve been trying out different product combinations that will give me that coveted flawless, and natural look.  After many trial and error combos, these three give the best results.

I love the weightless full coverage of the Makeup Forever MAT Velvet Foundation gives me. I have acne prone skin, and this is the only foundation I’ve tried that won’t worsen my already existing breakouts, or cause new ones. This is definitely a must try.

The NARS bronzer in Laguna shade, is perfect for contouring and adding a flush of color to your face without looking over done.  While I was buying it, the girl at the checkout told me that they sell this product very much all thanks to Kim Kardashian. So, I guess thanks Kim? on making this bronzer famous?

Now on to the next one, let’s talk eyebrows. This brow pencil is my absolute favorite. I’ve tried so many different methods, but this right here is my golden ticket for perfect brows.
*Tip: If you have dark hair that doesn’t mean you have to have really dark brows. I recommend using a dark blonde or light brown vs. a dark brown or black to fill them in for a more natural look. As for this particular brand, TARTE  the Taupe shade is best for almost everyone.

In this photo I used all three products listed above for a contributor photoshoot for a magazine I worked at.  The only thing that has been edited is the back ground. My face is completely untouched. This makeup is pure magic!
